F. Shattuck Tailor Co. is proud to announce the launch of FShattuck.com. We like to keep our suit lines sharp and clean, our web presence is no different.
A true bench-made suit is a rarity these days, and finding a craftsperson with the Old World Italian skills to construct it are becoming even harder to find. Luckily, master tailor Frank Shattuck (F. Shattuck Tailor Co.) is the last of a dying breed carrying on. Our suits are a classic 1930s English cut with the hand stitching techniques of Sicilian tailors circa 1900. “I’m Irish, but my hands are Sicilian!” Frank says with a laugh.
From the initial measuring of the customer, to the cutting of the pattern, the hand sewing, the final pressing and fitting, right down to the hand rubbing of the horn buttons with olive oil, Shattuck is the only one doing the work. It takes him about 80 hours to make a bespoke suit -- but the result is well worth the wait.
The F. Shattuck Tailor Co. atelier is nestled in Cazenovia, New York (about 40 minutes Southeast from Syracuse) after ten years on Madison Avenue in the big city. We proudly use English fabrics for our bench-made suits. As Frank says, “I like fabrics that can take all the handiwork and appreciate the hand stitch.”
